Federation objects to 17-member SC bench

ISLAMABAD: The Federation has reportedly objected to the inclusion of Chief Justice of Pakistan into 17-member-bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan hearing petitions against the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

The Federation in its reply submitted to the apex court has also raised objection on the formation of the 17-member bench, saying that the Supreme Court’s bench constituted to hear the case does not represent the full court as it lacks the presence of one available judge of the court.

It has also asserted in its response to the court’s notice that the authority to appoint judges in higher judiciary should not rest with an individual.
