Caricatures spark protests in K-Pakthunkhwa

PESHAWAR: The blasphemous caricatures on Facebook’s website on Thursday sparked widespread protests in Peshawar and across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

More than 500 college and university students took out rally here in the provincial capital and chanted slogans against the operators of Facebook.

The protestors while supporting the verdict of Lahore High Court were demanding complete ban on the website of the Face book.

The Islami Jamaat Taliba Islam also staged protest demonstrations against the blasphemy. Caretaker nazim of Islami Jamaat Taliba Islam, Mian Saheebuddin addressed the charged students here at Peshawar University.

The students carrying placards and banners, demanded of the government, to end diplomatic relations with the countries involved in publication of the blasphemous caricatures.

They chanted slogans against the website operators and demanded the government to ban the said website for ever.

The Nazim urged the government to take the matter into UNO, OIC and on other international forums with an objective to convey the sentiments of Muslims community to the concerned quarters.
