KARACHI: The encounter between police and criminals proved futile as Razzaq Commando, a notorious gangster manages his escape from Mawach Goth area of the Kemari Town.

The encounter between rangers and the group of outlaws continued for more than five hours in which law enforcement personnel unsuccessfully tried to arrest the notorious gangster linked with underworld but he made his escape.

Earlier today, a police party conducted raid in Mawach Goth area on the tip-off about presence of Razzaq Commando, a big gun of underworld gang of Liyari. Police later faced severe resistance from the criminals and called extra contingent of rangers.

Police has taken over house of the criminals, recovering large quantity of arms. The police also apprehended several suspects following the encounter.

SSP Kemari Naeem Shaikh said commando was involved in kidnapping for ransom, murders, smuggling and such other crimes.

The criminals used modern weaponry including hand grenades and rocket launchers.
