LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the RPOs, CPOs and DPOs across the province to adopt foolproof measures to check incidents of police violence and take deterrent action against the officials involved in such abominable acts.
In a special directive issued by him from Central Police Office on Wednesday, he said that such police officials should also be arrested after registration of cases against them.
He ordered the senior police officers to warn their subordinates to ensure that there was no incident of police violence in their respective jurisdictions.
He said if any case of police violence was reported in future, the officer of region, district and city would be held responsible and stern action would also be taken in this regard as he observed that such incidents tarnishes the image of the police department.
IGP further said that police officials of Bhawana police station involved in an act of violence had been suspended and arrested after registration of cases.
He directed the RPO Faisalabad and DPO Chiniot to submit challan in the courts within one week against suspended police officials.
Furthermore, IGP also sent a team to Chiniot under the leadership of Additional IG Inspection and Vigilance to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident of violence and submit report to him by tomorrow (Thursday) so that further action would be taken against the accused police officials in the light of report.
